Sensitivity and Specificity

In diagnostics, sensitivity describes how well a test detects true positives and specificity describes how well it avoids false positives. Analytical sensitivity, usually reported as limit of detection, is the lowest concentration at which at least 95 percent of replicates test positive. For the Alveo Sense Poultry Avian Influenza Test, limits of detection correspond to roughly Ct 28 to 33 on reference RT-PCR depending on strain and sample matrix. Because clinical positive samples were not available for testing, performance against the reference method is reported as positive and negative percent agreement rather than as clinical sensitivity and specificity.
